SuperGroup plc (LSE: SGP) is a British retail brand. It is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index.
The Group is made up of three main brands: Superdry, 77Breed (for the
skate market) and SurfCo California (for the surf market). Superdry
products combine vintage Americana fabrics with pseudo-Japanese text.
The business was established by Julian Dunkerton as Cult Clothing in Cheltenham in 1985. It opened its first store under the Superdry 極度乾燥(しなさい) name in Covent Garden in London in 2004 with Engrish-like
Japanese words on its clothes. Superdry have no advertisements or
celebrity endorsement, but a Brad leather jacket worn by football player
David Beckham sold 70,000 from 2007 to mid-2009, becoming a best-seller for the company.
